Electrician – Food Industry

Location: ON - Hamilton / Brantford Area
Salary Range: $44 - $48 per hour

Our Client, a leading Global Manufacturer of Food Products, is currently looking to hire one Electrician to join their maintenance team. This is a full-time permanent position located in the Hamilton / Ancaster area.

Position:  Electrician
Shift:  3 Shift Rotation

The Maintenance Electrician’s prime responsibility is the maintenance, repair, and continuous improvement of all packaging and process machinery and systems, including site auxiliary equipment, in a safe efficient manner.  The elimination of breakdowns is of prime importance. The maintenance electrician will report to and provide a daily summary of work to the Maintenance Supervisor and will be assigned work by the maintenance planner as needed. This position has a requirement to do some overtime when requested. The electrician will be an active member of the maintenance team. This job does not directly supervise anyone, but may indirectly supervise an apprentice electrician on an infrequent basis.

  • Performs complex work assignments in the discipline with minimal supervision
  • Performs routine work assignments in the following disciplines:
  • Instrumentation
  • Packaging and process Control’s
  • P-L-C
  • Electrical equipment (troubleshooting)
  • Electrical equipment installations, modification and redesign in compliance with regulatory requirements. (NEC, OEC)
  • Performs troubleshooting techniques in a logical manner on complex machinery including pneumatic and hydraulic systems
  • Prepares work orders using a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS)
  • Responsible for the Preventative Maintenance (PM) of all site equipment
  • Maintains all maintenance workshop equipment
  • Sources and prepares parts from stores for use in all repairs, W/O and PM’s
  • Prepares basic dimensioned sketches
  • Reads and understands technical bulletins, manuals, instructions and blueprints
  • Performs all daily, weekly, monthly and annual electrical PM’s
  • Participate in all maintenance team meetings
  • Communicate and train production staff on electrical hazards and techniques in maintenance when required
