VP of Sales – Food Industry

A leading and growing Canadian Food manufacturer is currently seeking an outstanding Vice President Sales.

Position: Vice President Sales

The successful applicant will be an inspirational leader who works directly with and mentors the Sales Team to plan, execute and exceed company expectations and growth opportunities. They will understand the competitive dynamics of the bakery industry and recognize new opportunities for the development of new business initiatives and relationships.

Responsibilities include:

  •  Set, develop and execute company Sales & Marketing strategies which support the goals of the business and achieve annual budget targets
  • Responsible for all Sales & Marketing efforts and activities 
  • Responsible for Sales & Marketing P&L
  • Oversee and develop the Sales tools and resources to achieve required sales growth
  • Coordinate R&D process with category Manager
  • Maintain Key Account Management 
  • Manage customer list by acquiring new business 
  • Provide excellent customer service through dedicated leadership
  • Develop and set Sales strategies
  • Prepare, manage and lead Sales in budgeting and forecasts
  • Manage the P&L to create the most value with available resources
  • Drive sales growth with all current business
  • Diligently ensure potential customer follow up
  • Manage Brokers to drive sales 
  • Manage long term/projected Marketing projects for the growth of the Company
  • Assist R&D in developing new products that meet customer needs and fit into projected Company strategies
  • Assist in setting R&D priorities and “next steps”
  • Responsible for Sales staff and Sales Support team
  •  Accountable for the Sales & Marketing team
  • Ensure that Operations, Finance and Logistics teams receive all the necessary, correct information to allow for efficient and accurate administration of all customer accounts
  •  Be actively involved in industry trade shows and programs
  •  Manage monthly Sales meetings
  • Report all Sales activity/updates at monthly Senior Management meeting 
  • Manage the company’s strategic planning in co-ordination with President and Management Team, including yearly goals and objectives, financial projections and refining  set company metrics
  • Be highly motivated and rely on past business experience and knowledge 
  •  Serve as an interface to the artisan bread industry
  • Monitor advertising trends to drive company strategy, development and positioning
  •  Track and review actual company results/performance versus plan and forecast
  • Be available to assist in the delivery of company presentations (internal and external)
  • Hold a flexible schedule to allow for meetings, travel etc., as required
  •  Conduct off site “hands on” product review and assessment
  • Attend trade show and industry functions
  •  Other duties as assigned

Requirements include:

  •  Passion for Sales and Bakery/Food Industry
  • University or College degree in Business or equivalent
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in business development, strategic planning preferably in a bakery environment
  • Strong network and experience with both the Canadian and U.S. Food retail marketsExcellent leadership skills 
  •  Excellent business acumen 
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Excellent organization skills with a penchant to make use of available IT processes and systems
  • Strong and proven communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization, customer organizations and suppliers
  • Self-directed interdependent team player with the foresight to be proactive and take the lead when appropriate
